We were going to The Finnish Basenji Specialty, Lotten with Ernie, Ch Wazazi Dazzling Image, Naranja with Kenya, Kaya-Kayenna, and myself with Fagge and Chika, I had hoped!
I, who think I always have everything under control, missed the vaccinations for Chika with three days, e.g. they were done three days too late. It has to pass not more than two years for the vaccinations to be able to enter Finnish shows. Chika's was older than that, since our rules are 3 years for rabies and 4 years for distemper, so I ran off to give her a booster. Done, fine! Then came the papers and told me there has to be a quarantine time of 14 days after a booster to enter the show. What to do? I tried everything from calling the Finnish KC to............., but NO, she couldn't enter. Rules are rules!
Chika had to stay behind and we left friday evening with the ferry to Turku.

After driving and making small detours we were finally there. We had missed dog puppies but came to see the lovely bitch pups and the two firsts were absolutely gorgeous. see pics. Liina, Bulldobas Rockin' Redhead, totally stole our hearts, she moved with pride, holding her topline with a good drive and standing giving you goose bumps, only 5 months of age.

I was also looking forward to see Senni again, the little b/w girl we sent to Finland on a cold winter's day. She was soo happy to see me again and yodeled and wagged her tail. Such a sweet little girl, looked so happy and loved everybody.

Dogs were judged on the saturday and the judge was "hard", only three dogs were still there to compete for the CC's.
In champions a few more got excellents and so also in veterans. Our own "Ernie" was placed 3rd with very good and Fagge got very good and was not placed. In the end "Ruben", Ch Faraoland Xcuse Me Desmond, was the winner in the best dog class and CC winners were Bulldobas No Kidding and Bulldobas Finnish Flutesong! At the Finnish specialties two CC's are awarded.

It was a very, very hot day, the show was inside but the hall was by a lake. It was very tempting to take a big jump into the water.
A dinner was held in the evening and the judge talked about her life with basenjis and we could ask questions.
Kenya and Ernie were together in one room and Fagge was left alone in my room and was quite upset, apparently, and destroyed my sandal. He has actually never destroyed a shoe before except for Anneli Pukkila's when she was in Sweden many years ago to judge a Drive-In show here in Sweden. :-))

Sunday came and now the hopes were on the bitches, "They are better than the dogs!" and Kenya was our hope to defend the yellow/blue colours.
But, this was going to be even harder. Only two bitches were going to compete for CC's and of course they both won them. The huge open class which Kenya was in was not awarded one single EX and Kenya won the class! I for sure understand the frustration Naranja must have felt. :-((

Champions were on and only three got excellent and none of the veterans. Winner was Ch Furahan Pukka Vizuri.
Best bitch was out of Intermediate, Hanishan Glory for Love with CC, and now the judged switched the champions and put the second in champions
as nr two in bitches, Dakarai Thumbelina, and the 3rd in champions was 3rd in best bitch, Ch Afrikenji Hot Sumabreeze, and the winner in champions was 4th best bitch Ch Furahan Pukka Vizuri. The judged explained why!
Second CC was won by BET Half on Eldorado at Sternhimmel a half "new African" by Avongara Imba Tena.

Last final and the winner is................ see above!

Thank you all for making this trip such a nice one and it is great to catch up on old friends and to make new friends.
